Is Pride Lurking in Your Leadership?

Hi Reader,

“I was doing the work of the Lord without knowing the Lord of the work.”

That happens, doesn't it?

Any chance it resonates?

Ministry is a long journey, and if you’re being honest, most church leaders will feel like this at some point.

For some, your pride can cause you to shove that feeling aside while you grow your church and baptize your former atheist neighbor.

But what happens when your pride takes over?

In today’s podcast episode, Chad Veach and I go deep into pride in leadership. Chad shares the red flags to watch out for in yourself and the leaders around you, and we discuss how addressing pride isn’t a one-time fix but a continuous battle.

Watch today's conversation.

Chad Veach talks about the red flags of pride in ministry and leadership, how to process things when people leave your church, and what happens when you're operating out of your gifting alone, not out of humility.

5 Habits That Reveal You’re a Prideful Leader

Chad and I talked about a big red flag when it comes to pride in leadership: when someone’s unteachable or unapproachable.

For years, I thought pride and humility were attitudes. Want to be less prideful? Just adopt a humble attitude.

But I’m no longer sure that’s entirely true. In fact, I now believe pride and humility are habits.

If you want to be more humble, do what humble people do.

If you want to be more prideful, do what prideful people do.

Here are 5 habits that reveal you’re a prideful leader, and 5 habits for humility.
