7 signs your sermon was written by AI

Hi Reader,

Have you noticed that our feeds all sound the same? Well, it’s three and a half years since ChatGPT launched and I don’t think that’s an accident.

A Wharton study earlier this year put a name on what’s happening: cognitive surrender. When you let AI do your thinking for you.

In today’s episode, I walk through seven tells that give away AI-generated content (things your congregation is probably already picking up on), share what my actual voice sounds like and how I’ve fought to keep it, and then get into something bigger than how we sound. I want to talk about how we’re starting to think.

Here’s what I can’t stop coming back to: if you outsource your thinking to the same engine everyone else is using, you’re not just losing your voice. You may be losing your mind.

For pastors, I think this might be the most important conversation of the decade. You’re one of the few people left in someone’s life who can call them to wrestle with something hard. A chatbot can’t do that.

This one is for every leader who’s ever opened ChatGPT and wondered: is this helping or hurting?
