Hi Reader,
Today's the day!
After two years of research, writing, rewriting, and more conversations about AI than I can count, AI and the Future Church is officially out.
The book is designed to help you position your ministry for optimal growth and impact in the AI era (which we've entered, by the way). It's not about prompting. It's about the impact AI will have on people and how you can use this moment as a chance to reach and help more people than ever.
To tell you the truth, at some points in the process of writing this book, I felt completely overwhelmed and discouraged at the prospects of the future (which is rare for me). AI could very well be quite disruptive. But as I worked and prayed through it, I found that no matter what AI does to us, the gospel doesn't change. This book isn't about predicting what's next, it's about preparing you to lead faithfully no matter what is.
If you pre-ordered: thank you. Your copy is on its way (or already on your device), and I'd love to hear what you think.
If you've been waiting: today is actually the best day to grab it. Launch-day orders make a real difference in helping a book reach leaders far beyond this list. And that's the whole reason I wrote it.
And Reader, your book comes with a companion. You get access to the whole AI Hub: real-time updates, tools, and resources for leading well in the age of AI. The book is just the beginning.
There's a lot more today to help you, so keep scrolling.
AI Parenting Advice: James Kelly on Whether AI Is Sinful in Nature and the Killer App Trap
Is AI itself subject to the fall?
This week on the podcast (and on the launch day of AI and the Future Church!), I sit down with James Kelly, founder of Faith Tech, a global tech community spanning 55 cities. James is in the rooms where AI is being built, discipling the people doing the building.
And he's remarkably honest about what he's seeing... from AI models going rogue on their developers to the growing crisis of AI companionship among youth in our churches.
We talk about the Killer App Trap, why he thinks every church needs to build an AI policy, and why the countercultural way of Jesus might be the most attractive thing the church has to offer in an AI-saturated world.
If you're leading a church, a ministry, or a team through this era of disruption, I think you'll find this one both sobering and deeply hopeful.
Every time there’s a breaking news story of disaster, I know help is on the way because of my friends at Convoy of Hope.
Last year alone, they equipped nearly 50,000 farmers, empowered 80,000 women, and made sure 677,000 children had a nutritious meal — Toni and I have seen this incredible work firsthand. Your gift to Convoy of Hope will make a real difference.
Subsplash
When a first-time visitor fills out a connect card or someone signs up to volunteer, most churches drop the ball on the follow-up. Subsplash Workflows is a drag-and-drop board where every task gets a checklist, a due date, and a person responsible so nothing sits unassigned.
I believe the church has never been better positioned to lead with hope.
Let's do this together.
Cheering for you,
PS. The book is just the start. For real-time updates and tools for ethical, applied AI in ministry, the new AI Hub is live at aifuture.church.
“
Creation is groaning…again. It’s as if AI threatens our worth as persons. I’m concerned about our people. Maybe you, too, sense the need for a trusted voice to help the Church navigate the looming uncertainty in economy, education, and relationships that accompanies AI. Carey has risen to the challenge to help this present age… again. In these pages he pens pathways forward. Read them and don’t weep.”

“
There have been very few things in the history of the world that will have the effect that AI is going to have on people’s everyday lives. This book has helped me form solutions to many AI problems that don’t even exist yet. If you want to lead people to Jesus through the age of AI, it’s a must-read.”
