Hi Reader,
What if everything you thought you knew about multisite church was wrong? Or at least misinformed?
For years, a lot of leaders assumed multisite was mainly a strategy for megachurches. New research from Warren Bird and Sean Morgan tells a very different story.
They identified every verified multisite church in America and surveyed more than 1,000 leaders. What they discovered surprised me and I bet it’ll surprise you too.
Churches are going multisite at smaller sizes than you might think.
Other surprises include how multi-site churches are staffed, what percentage of people actually go to a multi-site church (it's pretty high), and how quickly they're growing.
Also, 40% have added a campus through a merger. And when churches need leaders for those new locations, the most effective strategy isn’t recruiting a superstar from somewhere else. It’s personally tapping someone on the shoulder and developing them.
In my conversation with Warren and Sean, we unpack what’s actually working, why some campuses multiply while others plateau, and the signs that your church may be ready to consider another location.
Whether you’re leading 500 people or 5,000, this research will challenge some of your assumptions about what healthy multiplication can look like.
