Hi Reader,
What if the thing you’ve always believed turned out to be wrong?
Not because culture pressured you. But because when you actually studied the text, you found you’d missed something.
That’s what happened to Dr. Preston Sprinkle.
Raised in a strongly complementarian tradition (John MacArthur’s college and seminary) Preston spent years sidestepping the women-in-leadership debate, not out of fear, but because he didn’t take the time to study it deeply on his own. When he finally dug in by inductively starting in Genesis and working all the way through Paul, he changed his mind.
What makes this even more fascinating is that Preston did a similar study on sexuality and ended up affirming the historic and orthodox understanding of gender, sexuality, and the bible. So this isn't a case of 'liberal drift.'
This episode is an excellent case study about what faithful biblical inquiry actually looks like. What does it look like to follow the text where it leads, even when it costs you something?
Wherever you land on women in ministry, I think you’re going to find this one worth your time.
