My #1 tip to make sermon prep easier

Hi Reader,

When it comes to sermon prep, how familiar does this sound?

  1. You try to start writing Sunday's message early in the week.
  2. You sit down, staring at a blank page on your laptop screen.
  3. When inspiration finally hits (Tuesday... Thursday????) you finally dive into writing.
  4. By the end of the week, you've had enough to pull it all together in the last-minute crunch before it's time to preach.

It's a stressful cycle to be stuck in.

And here's the issue: If you're starting from zero every week, it makes sermon prep way harder than it needs to be.

It's like trying to cook a gourmet meal without any ingredients in the fridge.

When I go to BBQ brisket, I don't start at 4:00 p.m. to have dinner at 6:00 p.m.

The process starts at least a few days in advance—picking up the meat and ingredients, preparing them for the BBQ, and starting to smoke it 24 hours in advance.

Sermon prep should work the same way.

So, what's my #1 tip to make sermon prep easier?
