On The Rise: 45% of young men have never done this + More on attractional church

Welcome to the On The Rise newsletter, where I feature fascinating, helpful, and sometimes curious content that caught my attention this week.

Today, a piece by Scott Galloway and Tim Ferriss on the state of young men today (it’s eye-opening). Speaking of eye-opening, have you seen the latest humanoid robots? They're insane.

Also, got some stuff on Jonah and why the attractional church isn’t dead.

45% of Men Ages 18 to 25 Have Never Approached a Woman in Person

Thoughts on being a man from Scott Galloway and Tim Ferriss.

It’s no secret that one of the great crises facing Western culture right now is the crisis of purpose and meaning facing young adult men.

If you’re wondering how it’s going or why people like Joe Rogan or Jordan Peterson have an audience, consider even these three stats:

  • 45 percent of men ages 18 to 25 have never approached a woman in person.
  • On dating apps like Tinder, the top 10% of men (in attractiveness) receive 80–90% of all swipe-rights.
  • Men are 3× more likely to overdose.

Scott Galloway is one of the leaders tackling aimlessness in young men.

This piece, which he co-wrote with Tim Ferriss, is worth reading (note: not a Christian piece).

If you’re an older guy and hire or hang around with men in their twenties, you’ll probably find yourself mentoring or even ‘parenting’ them. That’s 100% cool —they crave it and need it.

This also helps explain why young men are flooding into churches right now.

How to Stop Working 24/7

Live coaching THIS Tuesday!

If the pace of ministry feels relentless, the needs never end, and rest always gets pushed to someday, this Tuesday’s Live Coaching Call is for you.

Overwork has become an epidemic in far too many leaders, but it doesn’t have to define you.

On the coaching call, I’ll unpack the hard truths every leader needs to face and share practical, proven strategies to help you reclaim your time, energy, and margin before the new year begins.

Imagine waking up on January 1st with a clear mind, renewed energy, and space to lead from a healthy place.

Don’t wait. Start now, and step into 2026 rested, focused, and ready to lead.

Maybe Attractional Church Isn’t Dead?

Here's what you should keep.

Earlier this fall on my podcast, I argued that we should admit that attractional church is dead.

As soon as the video was released, my friend Rich Birch texted me to let me know he’d been working on a piece called “Stop Saying Attractional Church is Dead”. Ha ha. Good thing we’re friends.

We both actually make the same point, but with different emphases.

Rich does a fantastic job explaining what part of the attractional church we should keep today.

And we both agree, nobody wants 'repulsive' church.

Weekly Book Recommendation

Rediscovering Jonah, by Timother Keller

I picked up this book this summer when I was in the Gospel in Life’s offices in NYC.

It’s more than a devotional book (although it is that). It’s an accessible, brilliant exegesis of the book of Jonah.

Plus, it’s an easy read. Great for your heart (we all run away from God) and your mind.

Need a Robot?

Have you seen this? It’s nuts.

So you’ve seen the robotic dogs and thought that’s cool, but figure.ai just released their Figure 03 humanoid robot, and it’s 👀 🤯🫨.

Other models, like the Neo, are also available on the market.

It’s not too long before your personal robot will be doing your laundry, leaving your latest Amazon order on your front porch (this can do both), and asking you what it can cook for dinner (I’m sure it’s just a matter of time).

Cheering for you,
