The AI conversation your leadership team isn't having (yet)

You and your leadership team are probably talking about AI.
But what do you actually talk about?
If your team is like most, it's some version of this: Should staff use AI for sermon research? Do we need a policy? Is it okay to use ChatGPT for the bulletin?
Those are fine questions; I've asked them, too. But that conversation is about prompts and productivity... it's about whether AI is a useful tool in your hands.
There's a second conversation almost nobody is having. It's about what AI is going to do to the world your church exists in:
the jobs your people work.
the income your donors have.
the sense of meaning your congregation wakes up with every morning.
the mental health crisis AI is likely to worsen.
We're wondering about the weekend bulletin while the world is being rebuilt around us.
Last summer, I had dinner in New York with Seth Godin. We were talking through what AI is going to do to people, and he leaned across the table and said something I wasn't ready for. It hit me like a freight train, and honestly, it reframed how I think about the church's role in what's coming.
I share what he said in this new video. I also walk through the scenarios almost nobody is walking you through (yet), what the optimists building AI are promising (and the one problem I can't get past every time I hear it), and why I really believe the AI era could be one of the greatest growth eras the church has ever seen.
Fair warning: parts of this one are heavy. But it can scare you, or it can prepare you. I made this video so it would be the second one.
