The top leaders in the world all do this

Hi Reader,

The other day, I asked a multiple New York Times bestselling author if I could share a story he told me in my next book.

He got it back to me—signed—in about 90 seconds.

This guy has millions of followers, and his response is almost always instantaneous.

  • It didn't sit in his inbox for a few days before getting back to me.
  • It didn't get put on a "get around to that later" list.

This is a pattern I’ve noticed before.

I’ll text friends who lead some of the largest churches in America, and almost all of them get back to me instantly.

Meanwhile, I interact with others who take days to get back to me... or need a few follow-ups.

But not the leaders leading the largest missions.

Three questions that can help you lead like this:

  • How do they do it?
  • Why do top leaders do this?
  • What do you need to do to be more like that?

And tree answers:

  • They're master delegators. By the time someone has their number or private email, they can respond instantly because they're not overwhelmed.
  • They control their time. Because of that, top leaders can get things done. If it takes less than 5 minutes, they do it right then and there. Meanwhile, struggling leaders get distracted, spin in circles, and end up behind.
  • They're selective. Not everyone gets instant access. They give a list of 10–20 people (family, close friends, and key colleagues) priority for their time and attention.

This is something that can make you stand out in the future.

Quick responsiveness—from a real person—is going to be a defining characteristic of great leaders and organizations in a world of artificial everything.

So, who will you reply to quickly today?

P.S. This matters to me because for years, my family and close friends waited while I responded to everyone else, most of whom I'm not in contact with decades later. Now it's different. If you know me, you hear from me right away. If you don't know me personally, you'll hear from my team pretty quickly.
