10 hidden struggles that undermine generosity

Hi Reader,

Last week, I announced the release of the Fund the Future masterclass—new, practical insights from me, Craig Groeschel, Chris Hodges, Ashley Wooldridge, and Dan Clark.

Just a quick note that special introductory pricing ends this Friday, July 25, at 11:59pm (Eastern). You can use the code FUNDTHEFUTURE to save, but after that, the price goes up. Click here if you're ready to join.

I don’t want you (or your church) to miss this.

Why? Because the Scripture is packed with so much wisdom on money, stewardship, and the heart behind giving, but far too many churches still fall into one of three camps:

  • Avoiding it entirely.
  • Mentioning it when giving dips, and things feel desperate.
  • Talking about it, but never seeing results.

Be honest. How many of these feel familiar in your church?

1. Your vision never translates into generosity. You get a few nods of approval… and then silence. The gap between what you see and what people support is growing.

2. People give, but not consistently. You’ve tried it all—sermon series, donor dinners, year-end campaigns—but giving always resets to the same level. You're out of ideas.

3. You dread when money or finances come up. Even when you’ve planned it well, you still feel tension as you approach the topic. It’s never just a message... it’s loaded.

4. Your team or board constantly pulls back because of finances. When you pitch an idea, it almost always gets shot down because of budget constraints. So you're left carrying the tension between what's possible and what's affordable.

5. You feel like you’re carrying the financial pressure alone. No one sees the stress behind the curtain except for you.

6. You’ve backed off teaching on money. People get defensive, feedback is mixed, and you feel misunderstood every time you bring it up. The cost is too high for the response.

7. People question your motives. Even though you know generosity is biblical, every time you cast vision around it, a small part of you wonders if people just think you want more money in your church's bank account... or your own.

8. Your church is growing, but giving isn’t. Generosity isn’t keeping up. It’s like the engine is revving, but the fuel’s not there.

9. You're not attracting major donors. There are people in your church with the capacity to give significantly, but they’re not stepping forward… and you don’t feel equipped to build the kind of relationships that could unlock that potential.

10. You’ve lost confidence in thinking big. You used to lead boldly, but now you tiptoe. And that hesitation? Your people can feel it.

So... how many does your church check off? Maybe it's 4/10, and you're getting by, but not thriving.

Or maybe it's 8/10, and you've been stuck for a while.

Get a proven framework that equips you for growth and generosity.

Fund the Future masterclass, taught by me, Craig Groeschel (Life.Church), Chris Hodges (Church of the Highlands), Dan Clark (Convoy of Hope), Ashley Wooldridge (Christ Church of the Valley), and more, is comprehensive, proven training that equips you with the practical skills and insight to see real transformation at your church.

  • When you cast a compelling vision and ignite generosity, "We can't afford that" becomes "We can't afford not to."
  • When you have a strategy that aligns with your mission, dread and anxiety become peace and confidence.
  • When you invite people into something bigger than themselves, transactional giving becomes transformational growth.

When your vision is clear and your strategy aligns with your mission, people don’t give less—they give more with confidence.

So much more is possible for your ministry, and now, you, your board, and your team can learn from the very best.

Join before Friday at 11:59pm to get introductory pricing!

You can save using the code FUNDTHEFUTURE when you join before Friday, July 25th at 11:59pm (Eastern). Don't wait until next year to fix it. Start transforming the culture at your church today!
